RONALD McDONALD WORLD

Ronald McDonald

Hello everyone! Welcome to my world!

I'm Ronald McDonald and I'm the Chief Happiness Officer of McDonald's. There's nothing I love more than entertaining you and bringing fun into your life. After all, life is all about having a good time!

Let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I was born in 1963 and joined McDonald's as the company's goodwill officer in the same year. On 25 November 1966, I made my first national appearance in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. What a day! I still remember the atmosphere… people were having a good time, laughing and cheering.

I've always loved entertaining people of all ages, especially children. Want to know a little secret? I have this special magical power to make everyone happy and laugh. I can turn myself into a cartoon character or catch a ride on a passing cloud or dance to your favourite tune or become a part of a video game. Check out some of my favourite fun things at fun centre.

I love dancing to the music. Great music always makes me happy and I just can't get enough of that. I also love sports, driving my big red shoe car and hanging out at McDonald's with my wonderful friends Hamburglar, Grimace ,Birdie and Early Bird.

McDonald land is my home but I always feel at home wherever I go. I spend most of my time on the road, making new friends and meeting old friends from all around the world. Guess what? I can communicate in 31 different languages. Yes, I can speak English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Dutch, French, Gaelic, Japanese, Papiamento, Portugese, Spanish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Thai, Finnish, Italian, Serbo-Croatian, Tagalog, Malay, German and Russian. I'm still learning new languages so that I can speak to everyone and understand you when you write to me in your own language.

It doesn't matter if people around the world call me by a different name. The Japanese, for instance, call me "Donald McDonald" since the "R" sound is not part of their alphabet. In Hong Kong, where families are close-knit, they call me "McDonald Suk Suk" which means Uncle McDonald.

I'm busy all the time but that never stops me from doing one thing that's very close to my heart, charity work. I always find the time to participate in charity events, perform magic tricks at hospitals and schools and attend the grand opening of new McDonald's restaurants. I guess that's just me!
